In the Studio Series: Welcome
Hello, piano families! If we haven't met already, I am Mrs. Jessie and I teach piano from my home studio (aka my living room) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. As a mother of four daughters, I know first hand how difficult it is to choose which extra curricular activities your family will commit to. I am pleased to know that you are considering music education as one of those priorities!
It is my firm belief that piano lessons are one of the greatest investments you can make in your child's life, because it has almost no expiration date. After you graduate high school, after you have children of your own, and even when you reach old age, you can still enjoy playing the piano! Not just that, but you can even continue to progress and get better. I can not think of many hobbies or skills that you can carry throughout your life and be better at when you reach age 80 than you were at 18!
My hope in writing this series of blog posts is to help families who are looking for a piano teacher understand my teaching philosophy and method so you can know if my studio would be a good fit for your child. I will cover topics such as my process for teaching students to read music notation, rhythm, and developing healthy technique; the method book series I use and why I love it; and what a year in my studio looks like, including recitals, group lesson days, and festival participation. If you have any questions that these articles don't answer, feel free to reach out! And if you would like to put your child on my wait list, you can do that here.
